Mickey Baker's Jazz guitar
I was reading an article in Guitar World magazine, that mentioned Mickey Baker's complete course in Jazz guitar. It seems that Jimi Hendrix himself highly recommended this course as a way into playing blues guitar. And for some fifty years this course has been in print, and used by some of the best guitarists. I bought the complete course, or both books, for under twenty bucks. The chords Baker assigns are unique and somewhat challenging to finger. However after spending a month I've got them down, and they are some of the best building blocks for music composition I've found to date. One of the neat things taught is a very easy to understand format for figuring out what key your in. For the advanced this may be already common knowledge, but for us still on the learning curve I can't recommend this course enough.
